Founded in 2017, the Brown Riverfront Esplanade Foundation, Inc. (BREF) is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization established by J. Hyatt and Cici Brown. BREF’s mission is to restore the riverfront to its previous glory and facilitate the restoration, operation and revitalization of the Riverfront Esplanade.

In 2019, BREF entered into a long term lease with the City of Daytona Beach for the purpose of redeveloping, operating and managing the Riverfront Esplanade, formerly Riverfront Park. The City of Daytona Beach contributes financially to the maintenance and operations of the Riverfront Esplanade.

Inspired by memories of his childhood spent along the riverfront, Chairman Hyatt Brown, along with the BREF Board, is committed to delivering a spectacular space where future generations can go to experience the charm of downtown Daytona Beach.
